The Kids from Nowhere

An Artic Educational Miracle. They were children of whale and walrus hunters. Previous teachers had labeled them "uneducable." They came from a blizzard-swept Bering Sea island. Their troubled school was threatened with closure. They had no computers and almost no books. Most had poor reading and writing skills. They spoke English as a second language. They had little world knowledge. Using George's revolutionary methods, they became the only team of Native Americans ever to win national championships in academics.
